Editorial Responsibilities
IGJAMS is committed to maintaining the highest standards of editorial quality, integrity, transparency, and ethical publishing. The Editorial Team plays a vital role in ensuring that all manuscripts are evaluated fairly, objectively, and solely on their academic merit. The Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editors, and Editorial Board members are expected to perform their responsibilities in accordance with internationally recognised principles of scholarly publishing and research ethics.
Responsibilities of the Editorial Team
Editorial Decision-Making
Editors are responsible for making independent, impartial, and timely decisions regarding the acceptance, revision, or rejection of manuscripts based on originality, scientific quality, methodological rigour, relevance to the journal's scope, and recommendations from peer reviewers.
Fair and Unbiased Evaluation
Editors shall evaluate all submitted manuscripts without discrimination based on nationality, gender, ethnicity, institutional affiliation, religion, political beliefs, or any other non-academic consideration. Editorial decisions shall be based solely on scholarly merit.
Confidentiality
Editors must maintain the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and associated communications. Information relating to a manuscript shall not be disclosed to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, editorial staff, or the publisher when necessary.
Peer Review Management
Editors are responsible for selecting qualified and independent reviewers, overseeing the double-blind peer-review process, ensuring constructive reviewer feedback, and monitoring the quality and timeliness of manuscript evaluations.
Publication Ethics
Editors shall promote ethical research and publishing practices by identifying and addressing plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, image manipulation, citation manipulation, authorship disputes, and other forms of research misconduct.
Conflict of Interest
Editors must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest and refrain from handling manuscripts where their impartiality could reasonably be questioned. Such manuscripts shall be reassigned to another qualified editor.
Transparency and Integrity
Editors shall ensure that editorial policies, review procedures, publication criteria, and ethical standards are applied consistently and transparently throughout the editorial process.
Corrections and Retractions
When significant errors or ethical concerns are identified after publication, editors are responsible for initiating appropriate actions, including publishing corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.
Timeliness
Editors shall make every effort to ensure efficient manuscript processing, timely communication with authors and reviewers, and publication according to the journal's editorial schedule.
Continuous Quality Improvement
The Editorial Team shall regularly review editorial policies, peer-review procedures, and publication standards to enhance the quality, visibility, and international reputation of the journal.
