The journal supports the responsible, transparent, and ethical use of AI while maintaining the principles of research integrity, academic accountability, and publication ethics. This policy is aligned with internationally accepted publication ethics standards and the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and is consistent with the quality standards expected by Scopus.

AI and AI-assisted technologies may be used to support research and manuscript preparation; however, their use must not compromise the originality, accuracy, reliability, or integrity of scholarly work. Authors remain fully responsible and accountable for all content submitted to MJMS.

Authors may use AI-assisted technologies for limited purposes, including:

• Language editing, grammar correction, and improvement of readability;
• Assistance in organizing or summarizing information;
• Coding support and data visualization under appropriate human supervision;
• Improving manuscript presentation and formatting.

The use of AI tools must always be subject to careful human review and verification.

Authors are fully responsible for:

• The accuracy, originality, and integrity of all manuscript content;
• Verification of facts, references, data, analyses, interpretations, and conclusions;
• Ensuring that AI-generated content does not contain fabricated information, inaccurate citations, misleading statements, or copyrighted material used without permission;
• Ensuring compliance with ethical, legal, and copyright requirements.

The use of AI does not transfer responsibility or accountability from the authors to the technology.

Authors must disclose the use of AI or AI-assisted technologies when such tools have materially contributed to the preparation of the manuscript. Appropriate disclosure should be included in the manuscript, preferably in the Acknowledgements, Methods, or a dedicated AI Disclosure Statement.

AI Disclosure Statement: The authors used an AI-assisted tool solely for language editing and manuscript preparation. The authors reviewed and edited the content and accept full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the manuscript.

The following practices are not permitted:

• Listing AI tools, chatbots, or software applications as authors or co-authors;
• Using AI to fabricate, falsify, manipulate, or misrepresent research data, findings, images, or references;
• Generating fictitious citations, references, participants, datasets, or results;
• Using AI to engage in plagiarism, duplicate publication, or other forms of research misconduct;
• Uploading confidential manuscripts, peer-review reports, personal data, or sensitive information into AI systems in violation of privacy, confidentiality, or copyright obligations.

AI systems and generative AI tools cannot be credited as authors because they cannot:

• Take responsibility for the accuracy or integrity of the work;
• Approve the final manuscript;
• Disclose conflicts of interest;
• Assume accountability for published research.

Authorship is restricted exclusively to human contributors who satisfy the journal’s authorship criteria.

Reviewers and editors must maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and peer-review materials. Manuscripts under review and confidential editorial documents should not be uploaded into generative AI systems or third-party platforms if doing so could compromise confidentiality, privacy, intellectual property rights, or data protection obligations. Editors and reviewers remain fully responsible for all editorial and peer-review decisions and may not delegate their professional judgment to AI technologies.

MJMS reserves the right to:

• Request additional information regarding the use of AI technologies;
• Seek clarification concerning AI-generated content;
• Require corrections or revisions where AI use has resulted in inaccuracies or ethical concerns;
• Reject or retract manuscripts where undisclosed or inappropriate use of AI constitutes research or publication misconduct.

MJMS supports the ethical, transparent, and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence and AI-assisted technologies in scholarly communication. The journal encourages innovation while emphasizing that human authors retain full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical standards of their work. Through transparency and appropriate disclosure, MJMS seeks to ensure that the use of AI enhances scholarly communication without compromising research quality, publication ethics, or the integrity of the scholarly record.
