Editorial Board
Associate Editor Responsibilities
Associate Editors of the Metro Journal of Modern Science (MJMS) play a vital role in maintaining the journal’s scientific quality, editorial integrity, and publication standards. Working under the guidance of the Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editors oversee the peer-review process within their respective areas of expertise and contribute to the efficient management of the journal’s editorial activities. Their responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Preliminary Manuscript Assessment: Conduct an initial evaluation of submitted manuscripts to determine their relevance to the journal's scope, originality, scientific significance, methodological rigor, technical quality, and compliance with the journal's submission guidelines before initiating the peer-review process.
Managing the Peer-Review Process: Identify and invite qualified, independent, and unbiased reviewers with appropriate subject expertise across the disciplines covered by the journal. Monitor the double-blind peer-review process to ensure timely, objective, constructive, and high-quality manuscript evaluations.
Editorial Recommendations: Carefully assess reviewer comments, evaluate the scientific quality and scholarly contribution of manuscripts, and provide well-informed recommendations to the Editor-in-Chief regarding acceptance, minor revision, major revision, or rejection.
Maintaining Editorial Quality: Ensure that manuscripts meet the journal's standards for originality, scientific excellence, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, clarity of presentation, and meaningful contribution to the advancement of modern science, interdisciplinary research, innovation, and emerging technologies.
Upholding Publication Ethics: Remain vigilant regarding plagiarism, duplicate publication, redundant publication, data fabrication, data falsification, image manipulation, inappropriate authorship practices, citation manipulation, and other forms of research misconduct. Any suspected ethical concerns shall be reported promptly to the Editor-in-Chief for appropriate action.
Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality throughout the editorial and peer-review process. Information relating to submitted manuscripts shall not be disclosed to unauthorized individuals or used for personal, academic, commercial, or professional advantage.
Conflict of Interest: Disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest and decline responsibility for handling manuscripts where impartiality could reasonably be questioned. Such manuscripts shall be reassigned to another qualified editor to ensure an independent and unbiased editorial decision.
Timeliness: Handle manuscripts efficiently and communicate promptly with reviewers, authors, and the editorial office to ensure that editorial decisions are made within the journal's established review timelines while maintaining the quality and integrity of the peer-review process.
Supporting Editorial Development: Contribute to the continuous improvement of the journal by recommending qualified reviewers, proposing Special Issues, identifying emerging research areas in modern science and interdisciplinary research, and promoting the journal within national and international academic, scientific, and professional communities.
Promoting Journal Excellence: Support the strategic development of MJMS by encouraging the submission of high-quality manuscripts, maintaining the highest standards of editorial professionalism and publication ethics, and enhancing the journal's scientific quality, international visibility, credibility, and reputation as a leading platform for publishing innovative research in modern science, interdisciplinary sciences, emerging technologies, and scientific innovation.
